Covid 19 updates and current documents

Welcome to our Covid updates page. On this page you will find current updates and important information.

Update 13th January 2022

There have been a number of  positive cases of Coronavirus in Gayhurst. All classes will remain open but  we recommend that you regularly get your child tested (at least twice a week) whether they have symptoms or not because several of the children at LEAP schools who have tested positive had no symptoms at all.

We know that you may find this concerning but we are continuing to monitor the situation and are working closely with Public Health. Please be reassured that for most people, coronavirus (COVID-19) will be a mild illness.

The school remains open and your child should continue to attend as normal if they remain well. Public Health England encourages household members that are aged 11 and over to continue with twice weekly LFD testing to help identify cases promptly.

We will continue to inform you of any positive cases in our child's class via email. We have also included in our Risk Assessment that siblings of positive cases in school should remain home for the self-isolation period of 10 days (unless there is a negative day 6 & 7 test) to limit the spread of the virus. Sibling transmission has increased the spread of the virus in school throughout the pandemic and is now a measure included in our school Risk Assessment to reduce the number of cases and limit disruption in school. We want to keep classes open and know that this ia an effective measure in keeping the case numbers down.

Please follow the link below to find information about how to access testing in Hackney as well as self-isolation support.

You can also continue to help protect others by following the guidance on how to stay safe and help prevent the spread.

Please monitor your children for symptoms and do not send them into school if they are unwell and please contact the school office to let us know the reason your child is not attending school.
