Covid 19: March - August 2020
As you know the Government temporarily closed all schools in England for the vast majority of children from Monday 23rd March 2020. This decision was taken on the advice of medical and scientific experts in order to manage the spread of COVID-19 and relieve pressure on the health care system. As of Monday 23rd March, pupils’ education continued from home.
Wider Opening of school
Following recent Government announcements, there will be a staggered and gradual opening of school to children from the following year groups: Reception, Year 1 and Year 6. Please see the Letter to Parents dated 22.05.20 below for timings, dates and further information about this.
All children not returning to school will continue to be educated at home.
Key Workers/Critical Workers and children with EHCPs
In addition to children in the year groups included in the extended opening, school continues to offer child care (Monday to Friday) for a limited number of children of Key Workers/Critical workers, whose work is vital to the COVID-19 response and a few children with EHCPs. Information on who qualifies for these places can be found below (see Keyworker Information letter, Government Info – Who are Key Workers? document, the Critical Worker Flow Chart and Information for EHC children), as can the application forms (see Covid 19 Child Care Registration Form and Application form for EHC childcare).
Free School Meals
For the whole of the period that school has been closed for many pupils, we have continued to provide free school meals for those children who meet the government’s free school meal criteria, with weekly food hampers. Please see the Free School Meals information letter to find out if you are eligible.
The LEAP Federation launched an urgent appeal for donations of laptops, computers and accessories such as headphones, to help ensure all of our children are able to access online learning at home during this period. We are tremendously grateful to all who supported this appeal and the devices have been distributed to those who need them most.
We continue to update our FAQs document (see PDF below) and hope that everyone finds it useful. Questions that are addressed to the school office account in each school will reach us and we will try and answer through regular updates to the FAQs. We regret that we cannot reply to individual requests and emails at the moment.
We have compiled a list of useful links that we have used to inform our decisions about reopening. We know it is confusing for parents that schools are doing different things at this time but as it is each school's responsibility to respond appropriately to keep their children safe then you will get variations between schools in relation to staff make up, vulnerability, premises and interpretation of the research.
We will continue to update you on a regular basis with important information as we receive it. We will continue to communicate with you by email and text message but please do regularly check the school’s website.
Any queries send to the school’s main admin address which is being checked twice a day
