    Enrichment

We are proud to offer an enriching curriculum that goes beyond the expected, one that celebrates the whole child and prepares them for a bright, balanced future.

We believe that learning should be meaningful, memorable, and inclusive of every child’s talents and interests. Our rich, relevant and representative school enrichment is designed to develop not only academic skills but also emotional intelligence, physical wellbeing, team work, fun and a lifelong love of learning.

    A Wide Range of Opportunities
    • Gymnastics – Enhancing coordination, strength, and perseverance.
    • Drumming and Dance – Encouraging rhythm, cultural expression, and confidence through performance.
    • Cricket – Building teamwork, strategy, and sportsmanship.
    • Music – Inspiring creativity and discipline through instrumental learning and ensemble work.
    • Forest School – Developing independence, resilience, and a deep connection with nature.
    • Hackney School of Food – Every child takes part in hands-on cooking sessions each year, learning essential life skills and exploring nutrition, sustainability, and food culture. These sessions are closely linked to our Design and Technology and PSHE curriculum, giving pupils a practical and engaging way to apply their learning.
    • Competitions – Providing opportunities to challenge oneself and celebrate success.
    #TAG - The Gayhurst Gallery

Gayhurst has it's very own professional art gallery - #TAG (The Art Gallery at Gayhurst - which was developed with local art educators Art Hoppers, designed specifically as a showcase venue to exhibit children’s artworks. During their time at Gayhurst, all children will enjoy the experience of having their artwork exhibited and hosting a private view event, where they can share and talk about their artworks. Exhibitions run several times a year and are linked to the school curriculum. You can find out more about #TAG at the dedicated website www.tagatgayhurst.uk .

    Drama

Drama is encouraged and incorporated into lessons reaching across the curriculum, from role-playing different historical situations within foundation subject lessons, to 'hot-seating' characters from texts and 'storyboarding' through drama to try out creative writing ideas in literacy. The children enjoy these moments, free to express themselves in a different way, while the teachers can witness the benefits as children's confidence and speaking & listening skills are enhanced. Furthermore, their ability to empathise is increased, thus facilitating more powerful and convincing writing as a result. Weekly class assemblies are another chance for children to shine in often ambitious productions that showcase their learning across the curriculum. Parents and carers are invited to be the audience and are always entertained.

    Wraparound care

We offer wraparound care from 7.45am with our breakfast club.  Specialist clubs such as dance, music, languages, Forest School, Chess and a range of sporting clubs run daily from 3:45pm – 4:45pm
