Hackney Music Festival 2013

At the end of July a number of Gayhurst pupils went to the Round Chapel to participate in the Hackney Music Festival.  Gayhurst was one of a number of local schools to take part in the annual event. Classes 2A & 3/4A took part in the Hackney Singing Festival - the  children sang songs from all over the world. "It was fantastic, I love to sing" said Eleanor (2A). Bradley (2A) said "I was a bit nervous when I saw all the other schools and the  audience but when we started singing it was really good fun". A big thank you to all the parents & carers who came along -  the turnout was amazing and the Music Service staff were very complimentary about the children's singing! Gayhurst also participated in the  Festival as part of the Instrumental Event. Violinists, the Y3 recorder group and the Ensemble all performed. It was an exciting opportunity to be a part of a big live event, and also  enabled the children to see where dedication and practice can take you, as we were able to enjoy performances from Hackney secondary schools. Well done and thanks to all who took part.
