Barbican Performances

Some of Gayhurst's talented singers, drummers and dancers performed at the Barbican to an audience of nearly 1,600 people!

On Monday 26th June, Gayhurst pupils joined many others from primary and secondary schools across Hackney and performed at the Barbican at the  launch event  celebrating 20 years of the Hackney Music Festival. It was an amazing event, the highlight of which was  performing on stage to around 1600 people!

Our young leaders who have been working with the vocalists Apollo 5 taught the audience the song 'Lean on Me' and they were incredible. They also performed in the foyer  beforehand, leading workshops and teaching          audiences warm-ups and other songs.  Well done Kyi, Tom, Ellis, Robin, Laila R, Zara, Selihom, Sameha, Grace, Lila and Nell.

Some of our drummers and dancers performed alongside children from our partner school Kingsmead Primary and gave a spectacular performance that had the audience cheering. Well done Ore, Hamida, Tracy, Tumi, Abayiti, Esme, Jaylan, Gabriel, Lola, Tru, Angelina, Bonnie,  Eleanor, Layla W, Lyra and Josiah.

There are lots of events on this week and next at the Round Chapel as part of the Hackney Music festival and it would be great to see as much  support for these as possible!
